What Jennie said the song is about
In the label-translated comments published by Sony Music Japan, Jennie described “Mantra” as an anthem encouraging listeners to love themselves as they are. The release notes also frame it around self-expression and positive energy. In a quote carried by Yonhap through Jennie’s agency, she called it “the perfect song to start a new era” and said it would make fans happy while showing a new side of her as a solo artist.
Soompi, reporting on Jennie’s interview with Vogue, quoted her describing the song as a “fun, upbeat anthem that celebrates girl power and inspires every woman to shine in her own way with confidence.” This wording comes through Soompi’s account of the interview, rather than a direct Vogue citation here. Soompi’s report provides that attribution.

A new partnership and a launch-era milestone
The single followed the announcement of a partnership between ODDATELIER and Columbia Records. Sony Music Canada described “Mantra” as the first music offering under that partnership. Sony Music Canada’s release notice gives that launch context.
Sony Music Japan reported that the video reached 1.2 million views in its first hour. That is a label-reported figure from the release period; the announcement does not state an independent measurement method, and it should not be read as a current view total. Sony Music Japan’s announcement is the source for the number.
