Jenna Bush Hager has not announced that she is leaving Today or moving to Texas. On the August 6, 2025 episode of Today with Jenna & Friends, she described a Texas return as a possible future dream—not a decision—and said she could imagine making that move when she is ready for another chapter.
What Jenna Bush Hager said about her next chapter
During a conversation with guest co-host Matt Rogers about whether they might return to their hometowns, Bush Hager said she loves Austin, where she grew up. As quoted in a People report syndicated by AOL, she described the idea this way: “I have this sort of dream — I just think everybody should have chapters in their lives — I have a dream — I don’t know how realistic it is — but when the Jenna & Friends chapter comes to a close…”
She then said: “Well.. linear television, baby!” and added, “Who knows? But when I’m ready to go to my next chapter, I think it would be so nice to move back to Texas and let my kids — I went to a big public high school — have a different life.” The quotations are reproduced as People/AOL reported them; an independently verified episode transcript is not available here.
Is she leaving Today or moving to Texas?
No departure or move was announced in the remarks described by the report. Bush Hager presented the Texas idea as a dream, acknowledged she did not know how realistic it was, and tied it to a future point when she is ready for a next chapter. The report does not establish an imminent move, a definite exit from Today, or what has happened since its August 6, 2025 publication.

The career context behind the comment
People/AOL reported that Bush Hager joined Today as a correspondent in 2009 and began co-anchoring its fourth hour with Hoda Kotb in 2019. At the time of the August 2025 report, the program was featuring guest co-hosts while seeking a permanent partner. That context explains the reference to a “Jenna & Friends” chapter; it does not turn her hypothetical into an announcement about her role.
