Savannah described being with colleagues as a source of joy and support, while making clear that she continued to hope someone would share information about her mother.
What Jenna Bush Hager told Savannah Guthrie
Savannah filled in for Sheinelle Jones on Today With Jenna & Sheinelle on June 8. During their on-air conversation, Bush Hager reassured her: “We’ll have your back. We’ll be with you forever with this, and never forget.” The message was about the support of her colleagues, not a new development in the investigation. TV Insider recapped the segment.

What Savannah shared about returning to work
Guthrie described coming back to the show as difficult, but said being with her colleagues brought her joy. Her mother’s disappearance remained present in her thoughts, and she said she still hoped someone would call and tell them what they knew. TV Insider’s account and a Good Housekeeping recap describe the June 8 conversation.
Good Housekeeping reported Savannah recalling advice from her mother: “Honey, you know, just keep going. Just keep going.” The outlet said the remark was shared in the segment; it was not a separate new interview.

What the conversation did—and didn’t—say about the case
The June 8 exchange was a personal conversation about returning to work, missing her mother, and receiving support from colleagues. It did not announce a law-enforcement breakthrough or identify a suspect.
For background, the Associated Press reported in February 2026 that authorities believed Nancy Guthrie, then 84, had been taken against her will from her home in the Tucson area. The AP report provides that case context.

The latest dated case-status report located here is an Associated Press story published September 29, 2026. It said authorities did not consider credible a possible ransom message reported over the preceding weekend. That report does not establish whether there were later developments by October 8, 2026.
