In a December 14, 2020 update, Jeff Bridges said he was feeling good, had shaved his head, and had welcomed a puppy named Monty. He also noted that he had turned 71. The post came after Bridges announced in October 2020 that he had lymphoma; it was a dated update from that period, not a current health report.
What Jeff Bridges said in the December 2020 update
Bridges shared a photo of himself with a shaved head and Monty on his lap. In the caption, as reproduced by the Los Angeles Times on December 14, 2020, he listed four details: “Feeling good”; “Shaved my head”; “Got a puppy – Monty”; and “Had a Birthday – 71, man.”
- He said he was feeling good.
- He said he had shaved his head; the report does not establish why.
- He introduced his puppy, Monty.
- He noted his 71st birthday.
How the post related to his lymphoma diagnosis
Bridges had announced in October 2020 that he had lymphoma. In the diagnosis statement reproduced in the same Los Angeles Times report, he called it a serious disease and said he felt fortunate to have a team of doctors and that the prognosis was good. That was his statement about his own situation, not general medical guidance. The December post itself did not say that treatment caused his shaved head, and “feeling good” should not be read as a medical assessment beyond his own words.
What Bridges reported later
In September 2021, Bridges said his cancer was in remission and that a previously reported mass measuring 9 by 12 inches had shrunk to the size of a marble. This was a later update, not information contained in his December 2020 caption.

In a May 2025 interview, Bridges said he felt “very good” while also describing ongoing issues; he said it was difficult to know whether some were related to cancer, COVID-19, or aging. A September 2025 campaign announcement described him as a lymphoma survivor. These later accounts provide separate, dated context and should not be conflated with what he shared in 2020.
