Isla Fisher shared a marriage joke to her Instagram Story in July 2025, about a month after she and Sacha Baron Cohen announced that their divorce had been finalized. The joke was reposted from the Instagram account @sheinspiresstrength; reports do not establish that Fisher wrote it or explain whom, if anyone, it was aimed at.

The reported quote reads:
“For all those men who say, ‘Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?’ Here’s an update for you. Nowadays, 80 per cent of women are against marriage. Why? Because women realise it’s not worth buying an entire pig, just to get a little sausage.”

The “80 per cent” claim is part of the joke
The quote’s claim that 80 per cent of women are against marriage is not supported by a study or survey in the reporting. No organization, methodology, geography, or year is given, so it should not be treated as a verified statistic about women’s views.

When did she post it, and how does it relate to the divorce?
PerthNow reported the Story on July 16, 2025, saying Fisher shared it on Wednesday; The Daily Beast reported it that day as well. The timing was about a month after Fisher and Cohen announced on June 13 that their divorce had been finalized. That sequence is reported; neither outlet establishes that the joke was directed at Cohen or was a statement of Fisher’s own settled view of marriage. The Independent

In April 2024, Fisher and Cohen announced that they had jointly filed to end their marriage in 2023.
