No. In an October 2025 interview, Jon Bon Jovi said he was “fully recovered.” That is his account of his recovery, not an independent medical assessment. Earlier, in 2024, he described ongoing vocal rehabilitation and said he was not yet sure he could manage the demands of touring.
What happened to Jon Bon Jovi’s voice?
Bon Jovi said a doctor told him one of his vocal cords was atrophying. He stressed that the problem was different from nodules. He said surgeons placed a Gore-Tex implant outside the vocal cords to rebuild the affected side. These details come from Bon Jovi’s public account, not a published medical record.
He discussed the procedure and the slow return to singing in a July 2024 interview with Terry Gross on Fresh Air. Read the KPBS interview transcript.
How did his recovery progress?
The surgery and early recovery
The surgery took place around 2022, according to contemporaneous reporting and Bon Jovi’s later interviews. By April 2024, he said the operation had succeeded and that he could sing again, but he distinguished singing from having the stamina to perform a full tour. The Associated Press covered his surgery and recovery on April 23, 2024. Read the AP report.

Rehabilitation in 2024
In April and July 2024, Bon Jovi described intensive, gradual rehabilitation. He said therapy began with speech work and vocal warmups, then moved to retraining his voice after years of compensating for the deteriorating cord. In July, he said, “Every day I’m at it, you know? Every day is some kind of therapy to try to get back to that 2 1/2 hours a night.”
That figure was his personal touring benchmark, not a medical measure: he said he needed to be able to perform for two and a half hours a night, four nights a week. He could sing again, but he was still working toward the sustained capacity he believed touring required. ITV reported on his return-to-tour threshold in April 2024. Read the ITV News report.
