The “new target” in the Ballerina trailer is Eve Macarro, played by Ana de Armas: the trailer closes on a confrontation between Eve and John Wick, played by Keanu Reeves. That moment appeared in a 2025 trailer story, not a newly released trailer. Lionsgate published its trailer on March 19, 2025.
What happens in the trailer?
The trailer introduces Eve as she trains in the assassin traditions of the Ruska Roma, then builds toward the face-off with John Wick. The studio describes the film as taking place during the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. The closing encounter is the hook behind the headline; it does not, by itself, establish that Eve is hunting John Wick.

Who is Eve Macarro?
Eve is a ballerina-turned-assassin played by Ana de Armas. The official film synopsis says she seeks revenge for her father’s death. Her training connects her to the Ruska Roma, the organization and traditions explored in the John Wick films.

Where does Ballerina fit in the John Wick timeline?
The story unfolds during John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum; the official film site places Ballerina chronologically between Chapter 3 and John Wick: Chapter 4. The site presents it as a standalone action thriller, though viewers who know the earlier films will have more context for the Ruska Roma and the wider assassin hierarchy.
For a timeline-based viewing order, watch John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, then Ballerina, then John Wick: Chapter 4. The official materials do not say that the earlier films are required to understand Eve’s story.
