In the image reported by PerthNow, Lauren and Jock are together in Italy, smiling as they drive on the island of Capri. The report places the photograph eight years before its June 2024 publication but gives no exact date for when it was taken.
The image was shared around the couple’s wedding anniversary. Its significance in the report came from the personal memory it recalled and Lauren’s reflections on life after Jock’s death.
Lauren’s April 2024 reflection on grief and parenting
In April 2024, shortly before the first anniversary of Jock’s death, Lauren wrote about grief and raising their children as a solo parent. PerthNow quoted her saying: “Next week will be a year since we lost Jock. I have no idea where that time went.”

She also described the purpose she found in caring for their children and preserving Jock’s work: “Jock’s legacy sits in his children and his work, and both have given me a lot of purpose in the last year.”
Lauren said plans to release more of Jock’s projects had been delayed while she found her footing as a solo parent. At times, watching his videos and looking at photographs had been difficult. She said she wanted to keep sharing his content and bring people joy.

She hoped to share unseen cooking footage
Lauren said she had hours of unseen footage of Jock cooking and sharing recipes. Her comments framed the material as part of the work she hoped to continue sharing, alongside the projects delayed during her first year of solo parenting.

PerthNow reported that Jock was found dead at Zagame’s House hotel in Carlton at about 2 a.m. on 30 April 2023. The report said Lauren was in Italy with their two children and contacted Victoria Police to request a welfare check after he stopped answering her calls.
