Bandcamp Friday is not happening today, October 8, 2026. The next events are November 6 and December 4; each runs from midnight to midnight Pacific Daylight Time (PDT). During the event window, Bandcamp waives its revenue share on purchases, but payment processing and certain royalties still apply.
2026 Bandcamp Friday dates
Bandcamp lists these eight event dates for 2026. As of October 8, the remaining dates are November 6 and December 4. The official schedule defines each event as midnight to midnight PDT, so check the current time in PDT when deciding whether a purchase falls inside the window.

How Bandcamp Friday works
Bandcamp waives its revenue share during the event window, allowing fans to support artists and labels by buying from their Bandcamp pages. The event began in March 2020 in response to venue closures and lost touring income. Bandcamp describes its purpose as helping fans support artists and labels directly through purchases.

The waiver is not the same as eliminating every cost or deduction. Payment processing still applies, and Bandcamp says it remains obligated to collect royalties for composers, publishers, and collaborators. Its help page puts it this way: “Even on Bandcamp Friday, we are obligated to collect royalties so composers, publishers, and collaborators are paid fairly.” See Bandcamp’s royalties help page for that explanation.
Bandcamp’s regular fee arrangements outside the event are separate from the Friday waiver. Its fee help page says the digital revenue share falls to 10% once an artist reaches $5,000 in sales. That threshold is one part of a broader fee policy; an individual seller’s rates and circumstances should not be inferred from it alone.

What you can buy—and what the purchase supports
Buy an available release or item from the artist’s or label’s Bandcamp page during the event window. Bandcamp lists digital albums and tracks, vinyl records, CDs, cassettes, and T-shirts among the items sold on its platform. A seller’s available formats and merchandise vary, so check that seller’s page rather than assuming a particular item is offered. Bandcamp’s About page describes the formats and its general payment practices.
For a digital-only release, a track or album is an option. If the seller offers physical music or merchandise, those items may also be purchased through Bandcamp. Buying directly through the chosen seller’s Bandcamp page is the clearest way to participate; a listing elsewhere does not establish that it is part of Bandcamp Friday or that it supports the artist you intend to support.

How much reaches artists and labels?
Bandcamp’s About page says an average of 82% of purchase money goes to the artist or label, typically within 24–48 hours. That is a platform-wide average, not a guaranteed payout for each transaction or a precise estimate for every Bandcamp Friday purchase. Separately, Bandcamp’s Fair Trade Music Policy says the remainder—usually 80–85% after revenue share and payment processor fees—goes directly to the artist or label, and that Bandcamp pays out daily. These are general descriptions of platform economics, not a transaction-by-transaction calculation or a promise that every payout arrives on the same schedule.
Bandcamp has also published two different cumulative figures for the event, without explaining the discrepancy. Its December 3, 2025 announcement said Bandcamp Fridays had contributed more than $150 million to independent musicians over five years. A September 26, 2026 Bandcamp Daily post instead said the events had resulted in over $120 million paid directly to labels and musicians since launch. These are separately attributed official statements; they should not be added together or treated as reconciled. For artists and labels
Artists and labels can use the event to direct fans to music and merchandise they have available on Bandcamp. Be specific about the date and PDT hours, and describe the waiver accurately: it removes Bandcamp’s revenue share during the event window, not payment processing or the royalties Bandcamp says it must collect. An event date or promotion does not guarantee a particular sales result.
