Spoilers for Wednesday Season 2, especially Episodes 5 and 8. Isaac Night and Francoise Galpin are siblings, not a confirmed romantic pairing. Their reunion can feel unsettling because it combines an intense family alliance with secrecy, a plan that targets Tyler’s Hyde powers without his informed agreement, and Isaac’s use of Pugsley to power his machine. The story frames their conflict around family loyalty, illness, power, and control; it does not establish an incestuous or romantic intent.
Who are Isaac and Francoise to each other?
Isaac Night is Francoise Galpin’s brother. Francoise is Tyler Galpin’s mother, while Isaac is the zombie known as Slurp. Netflix’s Season 2 ending explainer and its Hyde explainer establish those family connections and identities.

Their story is rooted in Isaac’s long-running effort to save Francoise from her Hyde condition. Before the season’s events, he built a machine intended to cure her. He recruited his roommate Gomez Addams to power it without telling him the experiment would kill him. Morticia intervened, the machine was damaged, and Isaac died in the explosion. He later returns as Slurp.
What happens when they reunite?
After Francoise is freed from Willow Hill and Isaac returns, Tyler believes the siblings are going to use the machine to save his mother. The finale reveals a different plan: Isaac and Francoise intend to remove Tyler’s Hyde abilities, believing that will save him. Tyler, however, values the freedom and power he feels as a Hyde.

Isaac also kidnaps Pugsley and hooks him up to the machine as its power source. Wednesday and the Addams family disrupt the scheme. Francoise switches places with Tyler in the machine plan; the conflict becomes a Hyde fight, Francoise falls to her death, and Tyler escapes, according to Netflix’s Hyde explainer.
Why can their sibling bond feel unsettling?
Care becomes control
Isaac’s project begins as an attempt to save his sister, but the plan shifts toward changing Tyler without his informed agreement. Tyler thinks he is helping Francoise, then learns that the machine is meant to strip away his Hyde powers. The discomfort comes from the gap between the family’s stated intention to help and the choices they make on someone else’s behalf.

Their reunion quickly becomes an alliance
Isaac and Francoise reunite after decades, and their shared goal soon organizes the people around them. The intensity is striking, but the plot places it within a wider family conflict: what does it mean to save someone, and who gets to decide what that person should be?
Wednesday co-creator Alfred Gough described the series’ recurring focus this way in Netflix Tudum’s ending explainer: “The show comes down to families in conflict and family drama. There’s always a family at the center of everything.”

What the creators and cast have said
In a Variety interview, co-creator Miles Millar said Francoise “has her own agenda,” which the story ultimately reveals as a desire to save her son. Gough said she understands the danger of being a Hyde, while Tyler values the freedom and power he associates with that identity. These comments clarify the competing priorities in the machine plot; they do not describe a romantic bond between Isaac and Francoise.
In Netflix’s Episode 8 Woecast, actor Owen Painter said that sharing a scene with Frances O’Connor “lit up the character for me.” That is a comment about performing the character, not evidence of romantic intent. The episode transcript also includes Isaac saying, “This was never part of your family. It’s a part of me.” He is talking about Thing and Isaac’s hand, not Francoise.

Is the relationship incestuous or romantic in canon?
No. The available official episode explanations and creator comments establish Isaac and Francoise as siblings and explain the family crisis driving their actions. They do not label the relationship romantic or incestuous. A viewer may find their closeness and secrecy unusually intense, but that is an interpretation of how the scenes feel, not a confirmed reading of the story.
A Reddit discussion titled “Isaac Night’s relationship with Francoise Galpin is weird in Wednesday Season 2” shows that this reaction has been voiced by an individual viewer. It is anecdotal, not evidence of a broad audience consensus.
