Jason Bateman says he and his older sister, Justine, do not see each other often—but he described their relationship as positive, respectful and free of any expectation that they gather for every holiday. He shared that perspective in an Esquire interview published December 8, 2025.
What Jason Bateman said about his sister
In Esquire’s interview, Jason said, “My sister and I don’t see each other a ton.” He explained that they do not follow a routine of seeing each other every Thanksgiving or Christmas, adding, “There isn’t that. In a great way.”
He described their conversations as “the rich conversations you would have with an adult friend,” rather than the “petulant back-and-forth” he associated with some adult sibling relationships. He also said they spend time together and are kind to each other because they respect one another as individuals, “regardless of the blood thing.”
Are Jason and Justine Bateman estranged?
Jason’s account does not describe estrangement. He spoke of occasional time together, thoughtful conversations and mutual respect, while making clear that they do not have a regular holiday-centered family routine. His comments are his description of their relationship, not an independent account of their private family life.

What is known about speculation over a feud?
Fox News reported on December 8, 2025, that Justine had pushed back on speculation that she and Jason were in conflict over political ideologies. That context does not establish whether the siblings agree politically, and neither source says politics explain how often they see one another.
