Rep. Jasmine Crockett accepted Jimmy Kimmel’s proposed televised contest after President Donald Trump challenged her and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to take the cognitive exams he said he had taken at Walter Reed. But the assessment identified in reporting was a cognitive screening test, not an IQ test—and Crockett’s acceptance does not mean the proposed contest took place.
What Crockett said on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’
Crockett appeared by video on the Oct. 29, 2025, edition of Jimmy Kimmel Live. Kimmel proposed a televised contest in response to Trump’s remarks two days earlier. Crockett replied, “Listen, if he’s down, I’m down,” and later made her answer explicit: “Oh, I absolutely accept it.” TheWrap reported her appearance and acceptance.
During the segment, Kimmel showed Crockett an animal image, asked her to repeat words and joked about other questions. These were part of the comedy segment, not an administered clinical assessment or a reported test result.
What prompted the proposed contest
On Oct. 27, Trump referred to cognitive exams he said he had taken at Walter Reed, also calling them aptitude tests, and challenged Crockett and Ocasio-Cortez. The Roll Call / Factba.se transcript records his remarks. Kimmel then turned the challenge into a proposed televised contest.

On the show, Crockett also pushed back on Trump’s repeated use of “low IQ” as an insult, saying: “They tend to be women and they tend to be women of color.” Mediaite published a fuller transcript of the segment.
Was Trump’s reported test an IQ test?
No. The assessment identified in reporting was the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), a screening tool for cognitive impairment—not an IQ test. The two do not measure the same thing, and a MoCA score should not be described as an intelligence quotient. Axios identified the assessment and reported the physician’s statement.

Axios reported that Trump’s physician, Sean Barbabella, said in April 2025 that Trump received a perfect score of 30 on the MoCA. In the statement quoted by Axios, Barbabella said: “A comprehensive neurological examination revealed no abnormalities in his mental status, cranial nerves, motor and sensory function, reflexes, gait, and balance.” That is the physician’s reported statement, not an independent clinical finding established here.

The reports establish Crockett’s acceptance of Kimmel’s invitation, not that a contest was scheduled or completed. The brief questions shown on the program do not establish that either politician took a formal test, and no result from a televised contest is documented in the cited accounts.
