Jane Fonda and her granddaughter Viva Vadim appeared together at the 2024 TIME Earth Awards Gala at Second in New York City on April 24, 2024. Fonda was 86 and Viva was 21 at the time, according to contemporary coverage.

The pair attended the TIME Earth Awards Gala at Second in New York City on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, Parade reported the following day. A contemporaneous People report syndicated by Yahoo also places the gala in New York City on April 24.
The headline description of the appearance as “rare” is qualitative: the reports do not count how often Fonda and Viva have appeared together publicly.
Who is Viva Vadim?
Viva Vadim is Jane Fonda’s granddaughter and the daughter of Fonda’s daughter, Vanessa Vadim. The Yahoo-syndicated People report identifies the family relationship and gives Viva’s age as 21 at the time of the gala.
