A passenger quoted in those reports said he was questioning how passengers were being placed in queues, including families with children. The photographs show him speaking with staff, but do not establish that an argument occurred or what anyone said.
What happened on James Corden’s flight?
Coverage said a British Airways flight from Faro to London diverted to Lisbon on Sunday, June 2, 2024, after an emergency announcement. Passenger Vanessa, whose account was reported by multiple outlets, described an extended wait after landing. She said the announcement instructed passengers to prepare for a possible emergency landing and to leave the aircraft through the nearest exit if able.
Vanessa also attributed the reported technical issue to the aircraft’s wing flaps. That explanation was relayed as her account; the sources reviewed do not include an official British Airways confirmation of the cause.
Why was Corden speaking to airline staff?
Vanessa said that after passengers left the aircraft, they were directed into immigration queues and Corden spoke with staff about the queue arrangement, particularly the placement of families with children. She characterized him as raising the concern on behalf of other passengers. This is a passenger’s description of the exchange, not an airline finding.

How the story was reported
Hindustan Times and The Independent published reports on June 4, 2024; The Standard followed on June 5. Their accounts rely substantially on the same passenger, identified as Vanessa, rather than separate official confirmation. The safest description is therefore that Corden was photographed speaking with staff after a flight disruption, while a passenger said he was raising concerns about queues—not that a verbal altercation was verified.
