Hulu’s first official look at adult Bobby Hill appeared in the revival’s updated opening sequence on May 30, 2025. He is 21, living in Dallas and pursuing a career as a chef—a setup that has since developed: official Season 15 material describes Bobby as an entrepreneur who runs his own restaurant.
What adult Bobby looks like in the first look
The opening sequence revealed Bobby as a young adult rather than the boy viewers knew from the original series. Pamela Adlon continues to voice him. In the revival’s initial setup, Bobby is 21 and pursuing his chef ambitions in Dallas, where he is spending his 20s with former classmates Connie, Joseph and Chane.

The first-look news was reported on May 30, 2025, when Hulu’s updated opening sequence offered the official glimpse of Bobby’s adult design. ComicBook.com’s report covered the reveal, while Variety’s May 31, 2025 coverage reproduced the season description.
How Bobby’s role changes across the revival timeline
The initial 2025 setup: chef in Dallas
The revival begins with Hank and Peggy returning to Arlen after years working in Saudi Arabia to build their retirement nest egg. They find a changed hometown, while Bobby has established an independent life in Dallas. The official season description, reproduced by Variety, says he is “living his dream as a chef in Dallas” and enjoying his 20s with Connie, Joseph and Chane.

The later Season 15 description: restaurant owner
Later official material shifts the emphasis from Bobby’s aspiration to his business. Hulu’s June 23, 2026 announcement describes him as an entrepreneur navigating old friendships and the stresses of running a business; Disney+’s Season 15 guide says he runs his own restaurant. Those descriptions update the earlier chef setup rather than contradicting it: Bobby’s work has progressed from pursuing a chef career to running a restaurant.
Hulu’s announcement also identifies Mike Judge and Greg Daniels as original co-creators and executive producers, with Saladin Patterson as executive producer and showrunner. The official pages list Mike Judge, Kathy Najimy, Pamela Adlon, Stephen Root, Lauren Tom and Toby Huss among the cast.

Why the revival makes the time jump part of the story
The years between the original series and revival are built into the characters’ lives, not treated as a reset. Hank and Peggy return to Arlen after working abroad, while their adult son has formed a life elsewhere. In an August 4, 2025 interview with TheWrap, showrunner Saladin Patterson described the challenge: “Aging a character like Bobby to an adult certainly feels unique to the world of adult animation.”
