In her review for Rolling Stone AU/NZ, published the next day, Sosefina Fuamoli describes a deliberately restrained stage design, expressive dancers and fireworks giving the open-air stadium show its scale.
Which Australia tour opener does this review cover?
This is the 3 December 2025 performance at AAMI Park in Melbourne, reviewed by Sosefina Fuamoli for Rolling Stone AU/NZ. It was the first of two headline stadium shows in the Australian run, which also included regional appearances at Spilt Milk Festival. The tour was presented by Live Nation and pgLang; Allianz Stadium’s official announcement listed the Sydney date for 10 December.

It is not the Perth concert on 1 December 2022. That was the opener of a different Australian tour, supporting Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, as covered by ABC triple j.
How did the Melbourne show sound and feel?
A restrained stage with room for performers
Fuamoli describes the visual approach as slick and calculated, but the stage design itself was minimal. Dancers had room to distinguish themselves rather than functioning only as background, while pyrotechnics and fireworks brought a larger spectacle to the open-air stadium. The reviewer characterizes the day as a rare 30-degree day in Melbourne; that is her scene-setting observation, not a separately cited weather statistic.

Shifts between intensity and intimacy
The performance moved between forceful delivery on “euphoria” and “peekaboo” and more intimate passages on “Swimming Pools (Drank)” and “Poetic Justice.” Fuamoli also notes “DNA.” and “King Kunta.” The crowd, which she describes as spanning ages and backgrounds, had little extended conversation with Kendrick: he spent relatively little time speaking to the audience.
What songs shaped the set?
GNX, Kendrick Lamar’s November 2024 album, was central to the show. The review says the concert opened with “wacced out murals,” setting up a set that paired new material with established songs. “Not Like Us” served as a payoff for fans who came hoping to hear it.

The review does not provide a complete setlist or a track-by-track sequence. The songs below are the specific titles it identifies, not a full account of every performance in the set.
| Song | What the review notes |
|---|---|
| “wacced out murals” | Opens the performance and foregrounds GNX. |
| “euphoria” and “peekaboo” | Examples of the show’s aggressive delivery. |
| “Swimming Pools (Drank)” and “Poetic Justice” | More intimate moments in the set. |
| “DNA.” and “King Kunta” | Earlier catalogue tracks noted by the reviewer. |
| “Not Like Us” | The anticipated payoff for fans who came to hear it. |
How should the Melbourne date be compared with Sydney?
The 10 December Sydney show at Allianz Stadium was a separate performance. In a later Rolling Stone AU/NZ review, James Jennings reports 10 dancers, oversized props, pyrotechnics and some video sound issues. Those observations belong to the Sydney account; they should not be treated as details of the Melbourne show. Likewise, the Melbourne review’s emphasis on minimal staging and fireworks is one reviewer’s account of one night, not a specification for every tour date.
Is the tour still upcoming?
No. The Melbourne and Sydney dates discussed here took place in December 2025. Live Nation Australia’s Kendrick Lamar artist page, checked on 8 October 2026, listed no events on sale. That page does not establish that no future tour will be announced; it means there were no tickets listed there at the time of checking.
