What Kneecap said and displayed at Coachella
During the second weekend of the festival in Indio, California, the group displayed three messages in succession: “Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinian people”; “It is being enabled by the US government who arm and fund Israel despite their war crimes”; and “Fuck Israel. Free Palestine.” The first two are statements projected by the group, not independent legal findings. Kneecap also led the crowd in a “free, free Palestine” chant. The Guardian reported the messages and chant.
Mo Chara spoke about the bombing of Gaza during the set. The Guardian quoted him as saying: “The Palestinians have nowhere to go. It’s their fucking home and they’re bombing them from the skies. If you’re not calling it a genocide, what the fuck are you calling it?”
What is known about the livestream
The first-weekend livestream dispute and the second-weekend broadcast situation were different. After the first-weekend set, Kneecap said its pro-Palestine message had been cut from the official livestream. For the second weekend, Rolling Stone Australia reported that Coachella did not broadcast performances from the Sonora tent. TheWrap said it was not immediately clear whether the second-weekend messages reached the official livestream; Kneecap posted its own video and images.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
That means the available reporting does not establish that the April 18 messages were censored from the official stream. The first-weekend allegation should not be treated as proof of what happened during weekend two. Rolling Stone Australia’s report and TheWrap’s coverage describe the separate broadcast context.
Criticism and reported threats
The Guardian reported that Sharon Osbourne criticized the group’s political statements and called for its members’ US work visas to be revoked. Asked by BBC News Northern Ireland to respond, Kneecap said: “Statements aren’t aggressive, murdering 20,000 children is though.” That is the band’s quoted response; the number in it is not independently verified by the Guardian report and should not be read as a sourced casualty statistic.
