Rapp joined Kesha on the changed line, and both made middle-finger gestures. Variety’s report, syndicated by Yahoo on April 15, also described the surprise appearance, lyric change and gesture.
What Kesha posted afterward
After the performance, Kesha posted: “WAKE UP IN THE MORNING LIKE F— P DIDDY.” Billboard reproduced the sentence from her post on X. It echoed the stage lyric, though the post used “morning” rather than the performance’s colloquial “mornin’.”

The context of the lyric change
Billboard connected the change to sexual assault and abuse allegations against Sean Combs. Its April 14, 2024 coverage also reported that Combs’s homes had recently been raided in connection with a federal sex-trafficking investigation. Those were allegations and reported investigative developments at the time; the performance itself establishes no legal finding. The available contemporaneous coverage documents the lyric and gestures, but does not establish a broader motive beyond the public post and reported context.
