Kim Kardashian and Kanye West began dating in 2012, married in Florence in 2014, and had four children together. Kardashian filed for divorce in February 2021; a judge declared her legally single in March 2022, and the pair reached a divorce settlement in November 2022.
When did Kim Kardashian and Kanye West start dating?
They were friends before they became a couple. The Washington Post reported that they met through Brandy in 2003, while Kardashian later told Oprah Winfrey they had been friends for six or seven years before dating, according to TIME. Those retrospective accounts establish an earlier friendship, but not its precise start.
Their romantic relationship began in 2012. TIME dates their transition to a couple to April that year. West also referred to being in love with Kardashian in his song “Cold,” released around the time she was married to Kris Humphries; the lyric is his own account, rather than an independent record of when their relationship began.

On November 29, 2022, the Associated Press reported that the couple had reached a settlement, citing settlement documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court. The AP reported joint custody, no spousal support for either party, and a term requiring Ye to pay $200,000 per month in child support. The report also described how certain expenses for the children would be divided. That amount is a reported settlement term, not independent verification of payments made since.
