The pack adds a Tokyo-inspired stage and an exclusive Shadow skin with Reeves’s voice. It is bonus content, not a playable retelling of the film, and it requires the base game.
What Reeves’s Shadow content includes
SEGA describes the Movie Pack as adding stages inspired by Sonic the Hedgehog 3, including a Tokyo setting where Shadow faces G.U.N. troops, as well as an exclusive movie Shadow skin featuring Reeves’s voice. The pack is separate from the main SHADOW GENERATIONS campaign.

In a September 24, 2024 interview with PlayStation Blog, series producer Shun Nakamura explained that the tie-in was intended to bring film fans into the game. He said the setting was inspired by Tokyo, which Shadow visits in the movie, but designed as a Sonic-game environment.
Nakamura clarified the relationship between the game content and film: “This content will not have a story which per se that would relate directly to the movie.” In other words, the Movie Pack is a themed bonus adventure, not a direct adaptation of the movie’s plot.

How to get the Movie Pack
The base game, SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS, is required. SEGA says the pack is sold separately and is also included in the Digital Deluxe Edition and the Digital Deluxe Upgrade for the standard edition. Nintendo UK likewise lists the Movie Pack as part of its Digital Deluxe package.
- Digital Deluxe Edition: includes the Movie Pack.
- Standard edition: does not automatically include the pack; buy the DLC separately or purchase the Digital Deluxe Upgrade.
Check the product listing for your region and platform before buying: edition names and DLC availability can vary between storefronts. SEGA’s April 2025 Japanese announcement listed the pack at 660 yen including tax in Japan; that is a regional price, not a current global price.
What is SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS?
Released October 25, 2024, SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS combines a remaster of SONIC GENERATIONS with a new SHADOW GENERATIONS campaign. The Sonic portion brings Classic and Modern Sonic together across 2D and 3D stages. Shadow’s campaign includes new Doom Powers and a story connected to his past. SEGA’s announcement of the release is available on its official site.

Platforms and edition checks
SEGA’s listed platforms include PlayStation 4 and 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. SEGA’s current official game site also lists Nintendo Switch 2. The Switch 2 physical edition uses a game-key card, requires broadband internet, and downloads the game on first play. Confirm the platform and edition on the relevant store page, since packaging and DLC inclusion are storefront- and region-specific.

What SEGA has reported about sales
SEGA announced on January 24, 2025 that worldwide sales of SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS had surpassed two million units. The company says the figure combines physical and downloaded sales across all platforms; it is a dated milestone, not a current sales total. See SEGA’s announcement.
