In a report published on 23 February 2024, PerthNow said the video resurfaced as Clarke announced her family’s skincare brand, Kaladé. The report describes an emotional moment, not a documented dispute between the two founders.
What happened, and when?
The timing matters: the footage was months old when it drew attention. PerthNow’s 23 February 2024 report said Clarke filmed the video on 30 August 2023, after learning that Paul was planning Paullie. Clarke described feeling defeated and scared.
- 29 August 2023: PerthNow reported Paul’s Paullie announcement and said the debut was planned for 10 September. The report described the brand’s Instagram announcement as saying Paul had personally used and tested the products for more than a year; that was a launch-era brand statement, not independent evidence of product efficacy.
- 30 August 2023: Clarke filmed the reaction later reported by PerthNow.
- 20 February 2024: Clarke announced Kaladé to her audience, according to PerthNow.
- 22 February 2024: The report says Clarke’s family held a launch event.
- 23 February 2024: PerthNow published its account of the resurfaced video and the launch lead-up.
PerthNow reported that Clarke’s family had worked on Kaladé during 2023. The report does not establish that the video was a response to a February 2024 Paullie launch; it was filmed the previous August.
How did Anna Paul respond?
PerthNow reported that Paul responded supportively to Clarke, writing: “Nooooo never feel like this! I’m so happy for you.” The account gives no basis for portraying the exchange as a personal feud. Clarke also said, as quoted by PerthNow, that she recorded the video hoping small-business owners would feel less alone. The report presents selected social-video material, not a complete transcript.

Why did the two skincare launches invite comparison?
The comparison was about overlapping product categories and timing, not proof that one brand copied the other. In its 2024 account, PerthNow described Kaladé’s initial offering as cleanser, lotion, moisturiser and glow serum, and Paullie as initially focused on masks. Those descriptions are a snapshot of the brands at the time, not current catalogues.
The official stores show broader ranges today. Paullie’s current products collection lists items including Calm Cleanser, Daydream Moisturiser, Miracle Hydrating Mask, lip and body products, and skincare sets. The Kaladé skincare collection lists products including CEO Of Cleanser, IYKYK Daily Moisturiser, Glow Up Face Oil, Goldy AM Serum and Dream PM Serum. Both currently list cleansers, but the available sources do not establish identical ranges, copying, or wrongdoing.

What can—and can’t—be concluded about the products?
The reports and brand pages establish what the companies said they offered, not how the products perform in independent testing. Kaladé presents its range as made for sensitive skin; that is the brand’s positioning, not an independent finding. Paullie’s FAQ says nearly every product is developed and made in Australia, with Pimple Patches named as the exception. That, too, is the brand’s own claim.
Paullie’s Help & FAQ advises customers who are concerned to check with a doctor or dermatologist and recommends a patch test before applying a product over the entire face. This is the company’s guidance, not a substitute for individualized medical advice. The sources do not provide an independent clinical comparison of Paullie and Kaladé or product-performance testing.
