Kate Bush celebrated her 2023 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction in a statement posted on ceremony night, thanking voters and saying she would not attend in person. She did not explain why she was absent. The ceremony took place November 3 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
What Kate Bush said about the honour
In her statement on November 3, 2023, Bush wrote: “I am completely blown away by this huge honour – an award that sits in the big beating heart of the American music industry.” She thanked everyone who voted for her and said she had never imagined receiving the accolade.

Bush also connected the recognition to the renewed success of “Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God).” The song had been “surprisingly successful” the previous year, she wrote, and she thanked voters she believed had helped drive it up the charts.
She confirmed she would miss the ceremony: “I’m afraid I won’t be able to attend the ceremony tonight, but for me the real honour is knowing that you felt I deserved it.” Her statement gave no reason for her absence.

Bush recalled admiring Elton John as a child and wanting to write music that could move people. She also congratulated Bernie Taupin and the other inductees. She ended on a personal note: “I’m only five foot three, but today I feel a little taller.” Read Kate Bush’s full statement.
How the induction ceremony honoured Bush
Bush was inducted in the Performer category at the 38th annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. Big Boi inducted her, and St. Vincent performed “Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)” as the tribute. The ceremony was held Friday, November 3, 2023, at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The Hall’s Kate Bush profile lists her induction and tribute details; Barclays Center’s event page gives the event date and location.

How the Hall selected its 2023 class
The Hall says its Fan Vote joins ballots cast by more than a thousand historians, music-industry professionals, and artists. That describes the overall selection process; it is not a Bush-specific vote count, and it does not mean the fan vote alone determined her induction. The 2023 class page explains the process.
Disney’s official press material describes the ceremony as recorded live in Brooklyn and featuring performances and collaborations celebrating the 2023 class. That description does not establish whether the program is currently available to stream. Disney’s ceremony announcement provides its event description.
