Her performances moved from audition and Hollywood selections to themed live-round covers, then to three songs in the finale: “A Moment Like This,” “Respect” and “Before Your Love.”
Where Clarkson’s season-one run began
Clarkson auditioned in Dallas, where the season-one performance table records her singing “Express Yourself” and “At Last.” In Hollywood, the same table lists “Respect,” “I Say a Little Prayer” and “Save the Best for Last.” She sang “Respect” again in the semifinal group round, making it a song that appeared at both the beginning and near the end of her competition journey. The song-by-song record is documented in Reality TV World’s Kelly Clarkson biography.

These are figures reported at the time by AP, not independently audited totals.
Reality TV World’s retrospective biography gives Clarkson 58% of the finale vote and says she was never in the bottom three during the season. The vote share is not confirmed in the AP account cited here, so it should be understood as that retrospective source’s figure rather than a contemporaneous AP tally.
