Kate Middleton and Prince William’s publicly reported plan for their 14th wedding anniversary was a two-day official visit to Scotland on 29–30 April 2025, with engagements on Mull and Iona. A magazine also reported that they would stay overnight in a holiday cottage on Mull, but no cited report confirms a private romantic celebration.
What were William and Kate’s anniversary plans?
Their 14th wedding anniversary fell on 29 April 2025, the date they married at Westminster Abbey in 2011. Sky News reported on 22 April that the Prince and Princess of Wales were due to arrive on the Isle of Mull that day for public engagements intended to support the local community. Tatler reported that the visit covered Mull and Iona from 29 to 30 April.
The itinerary reported by Sky News centered on meeting people and seeing local community life. It included a community hub, Tobermory producers’ market, a croft and restaurant, and time with countryside rangers, schoolchildren and an outdoor-learning group. The reports describe official royal work, not a holiday itinerary.
What was the visit intended to focus on?
Tatler quoted Kensington Palace as describing the visit as “a powerful model for fostering a more loving, empathetic, and compassionate society through deeper connections with our surroundings and engaging more in shared endeavours.” That wording is the palace statement as reproduced by Tatler. The reported schedule reflected that emphasis through community, local producers, farming and outdoor learning.

Was there a private anniversary celebration?
Marie Claire UK reported on 28 April that the couple were scheduled to stay overnight in a holiday cottage on Mull. That accommodation detail does not establish that they planned a private romantic date, nor does it turn the official visit into a holiday. Good Housekeeping also framed the Scotland trip as official engagements and noted that a private celebration or gifts were uncertain. The available reporting does not confirm how they marked the anniversary privately.

Marie Claire described the trip as Catherine’s first official overnight work engagement since her cancer diagnosis. The magazine also reproduced a 2021 quotation in which William spoke about his personal connection to Scotland: “Scotland is the source of some of my happiest memories, but also, my saddest,” and later, “Alongside this painful memory is one of great joy because it was here in Scotland 20 years ago this year that I first met Catherine.” Those were retrospective remarks about Scotland, not comments about the 2025 anniversary schedule.
