Juicy Fest’s 6 January 2024 Auckland concert ended with 12 arrests, according to a contemporary PerthNow report. The report also relayed witness accounts of gang intimidation and a serious ear injury; those details should be distinguished from the arrest figure and the festival founder’s separate response. Perth was scheduled for 14 January, but the sources available here confirm the date—not what ultimately happened at that show.
What was reported at the Auckland concert?
Juicy Fest held its Auckland event at North Harbour Stadium on 6 January 2024, according to the festival’s event page. PerthNow reported six days later that the event ended with 12 arrests. Its account drew on reporting by the New Zealand Herald for details about an alleged assault and gang intimidation. PerthNow’s 12 January report did not establish those details as findings from police records or court documents.
The report relayed an account in which a man had part of his ear bitten off. A witness said the incident followed a “barking dog chant” and the man raising a fist in the Black Power salute. The witness also described tattoos, patches, chanting and aggression as signs of a heavy gang presence. These are reported and witness-described details, not evidence that every attendee encountered intimidation or that the account was independently verified.
What did the festival founder say?
Juicy Fest founder Glenn Meikle apologized for trouble, saying: “We can only apologise if a small number of undesirables ruined the experience for some and would hate for this to tarnish what was, for the most part, a positive event for most.” He also said: “Overall every Juicy Fest event has been a great day celebrating R&B & hip hop and we of course take learnings from each.” PerthNow published both statements in its 12 January coverage. They represent the organizer’s response, separate from the witness account and the reported arrest total. Read the PerthNow report.

What did Juicy Fest’s entry policy say?
The festival’s general FAQ says entry may be refused to people “wearing gang related colours.” It also describes security and conduct restrictions and cautions that conditions can vary between events. That published rule shows the organizer’s stated policy; it does not establish how the rule was enforced at North Harbour Stadium. Juicy Fest’s FAQ.
Was the Perth show still scheduled?
Yes—Perth was still ahead when PerthNow published its report on 12 January 2024. Juicy Fest’s event page listed Fremantle Oval for 14 January, two days later. Those are historical dates: the schedule confirms that Perth was planned, but the sources cited here do not verify whether the event proceeded or document what happened there. How does the Auckland report fit the wider tour?
Juicy Fest’s FAQ listed T-Pain, T.I., Ashanti, The Game, Trey Songz, Fabolous, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Keri Hilson and Mario on the 2024 lineup. A lineup listing does not establish that every act performed at every venue. Juicy Fest’s FAQ.
Wellington had a separate report earlier in the tour. 1News said six people were arrested at the 5 January event and reported that police described its crowd of 15,000 as “largely well-behaved,” while also covering disorder, an assault and a minor injury to an officer outside the event. Those figures and incidents refer to Wellington, not Auckland. 1News’s Wellington report.

What happened to later New Zealand plans?
In December 2024, Juicy Fest announced that it was cancelling its planned New Zealand events for 2025 and said New Zealand ticket holders were entitled to refunds. The promoter said Auckland’s alcohol licence for the planned event had been declined and that licensing uncertainty affected other New Zealand dates; its notice also referred to concerns about past antisocial behaviour raised during the licensing process. This later announcement concerns the 2025 New Zealand plans and does not establish the outcome of the 2024 Perth show. Juicy Fest’s announcement.
