Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 257 has two dates worth distinguishing: VIZ’s official English listing gives April 28, 2024, while a pre-release report scheduled the Japanese release for April 22 at midnight JST, which was April 21 in several Western time zones. For an official, synopsis-level spoiler, Shueisha says Yuji’s awakening through Black Flash releases his latent potential in the fight with Sukuna.
Chapter 257 release date: why listings differ
VIZ’s official English chapter listing dates Chapter 257 to April 28, 2024. A Hindustan Times report published ahead of release gave a different schedule: 12 a.m. JST on Monday, April 22, corresponding to April 21 in several US and European time zones. These dates refer to different edition and regional framings; they should not be collapsed into one universal release date. VIZ’s chapter listing is the relevant source for its English listing, while the Hindustan Times schedule report records the pre-release timing.

That schedule was for the chapter’s 2024 publication, not a current or upcoming release. Shonen Jump+ identifies the Japanese installment as Chapter 257, titled 人外魔境新宿決戦㉙. Its page currently displays January 28, 2025; that catalog date is not the chapter’s initial 2024 publication date. Read the Shonen Jump+ listing.
