Why did Trump call Josh Shapiro after the arson attack?
Shapiro said Trump called roughly a week after an April 2025 arson attack at the governor’s residence. In an earlier interview with CBS News, Shapiro recalled that the call came from an unknown number. He initially let it go to voicemail, then returned the call after realizing Trump had left the message.
According to Shapiro, Trump checked on him and offered law-enforcement support to enhance security at the residence. Shapiro said he expected the conversation to end after a few minutes, but Trump continued into other subjects.
What did Trump reportedly say to Shapiro?
Shapiro’s account on The View, as reported by Entertainment Weekly on January 27, 2026, added that Trump moved from security to tariffs, then mused about the Democratic Party and possible presidential candidates. Shapiro described the shift as “the weave.”
