The update came ahead of the television premiere of John Farnham: Finding The Voice; it describes what Robert reported then, not John Farnham’s health today.
What Robert Farnham said in the 2023 interview
Robert appeared on Sunrise with family friend Gaynor Wheatley. He described his father as “doing fantastic,” saying he was walking with a cane, walking his dog and dancing. Robert also said, “He sings at home again, the whole thing.” The remarks were reported from the July 24, 2023 interview.
Wheatley spoke about the families’ relationship, saying, “I’ve often said that was the love story, the Wheatley-Farnham love story.” The quoted remarks and speaker attributions were reproduced by 7NEWS.
What was reported about Farnham’s surgery
The contemporaneous reports said Farnham had undergone a 12-hour operation after a throat-cancer diagnosis. Surgeons removed a tumour from his mouth and reconstructed his jaw. Robert described him as cancer free during the interview. These are details and statements reported in July 2023, not a current medical bulletin.
