On 31 December 2023, less than two months after Johnny Ruffo died, his partner Tahnee Sims reflected on the year they had shared and the prospect of entering 2024 without him. She described being pulled between welcoming a fresh start and struggling to look ahead without the person who had been beside her for years. She also said she hoped to carry Ruffo’s zest for life into the new year.
What Tahnee Sims said about entering 2024
In a New Year’s post reported by PerthNow on 31 December 2023, Sims described 2023 as a year of “some incredible highs” and being “absolutely shattered with the lowest of lows.” She said she had mixed feelings about the year ahead: part of her welcomed a fresh year, while another part could not bear going into it without “J.”
PerthNow quoted Sims describing how difficult it was to imagine looking forward without the person who had been beside her for so many years. She wrote: “It’s hard to fathom your life & look forwards without your person that has been beside you for so many years – even though we knew we were on borrowed time, we still always held out hope.”
Sims acknowledged that she and Ruffo knew their time together might be limited, but said they had continued to hope. Looking toward 2024, she said she wanted to carry his zest for life with her, cherish each moment and live life to the fullest, as he wanted. Her closing wish was: “Here’s to 2024, please be kind ✨” PerthNow and Starts at 60 reported the wording of the post.
