That episode supports a story about political disagreement and Kimmel’s view of Democratic outreach; it does not, on the available evidence, establish a sustained personal feud between the two.
Why did Jimmy Kimmel defend Joe Rogan?
Kimmel discussed Rogan on The Sarah Silverman Podcast, in an episode Apple Podcasts lists as published August 7, 2025. Mediaite reported that the conversation addressed criticism Rogan faced after criticizing Trump, despite his 2024 election endorsement of Trump. Apple Podcasts lists the episode; Mediaite covered the exchange.
As characterized in reporting, Kimmel’s defense focused on the risk of alienating people from the Democratic Party by attacking Rogan for criticizing Trump. It should not be read as Kimmel endorsing Rogan’s entire political record. Fox News also described Kimmel’s position, but no verified primary transcript or recording was located for the specific remarks. Fox News reported on Kimmel’s comments.
What did Kimmel say about Rogan?
The episode’s reported point was that liberals should not push away people who criticize Trump, even if those people previously supported him. Because a verified transcript or recording was not established, the details here are paraphrased from coverage rather than presented as Kimmel’s verbatim words. The available reporting does not justify attributing a broader endorsement or specific additional statements to him.

Were Jimmy Kimmel and Joe Rogan really feuding?
The “well-documented feud” framing is not established by the material available for this story. It supports the existence of public disagreement and a later defense, but does not provide a reliable history of a sustained personal feud. Without that history, it would be misleading to invent a sequence of feud incidents or describe the August discussion as a reconciliation.
Did Joe Rogan later defend Jimmy Kimmel?
Yes. After ABC suspended Jimmy Kimmel Live! in September 2025 amid backlash over Kimmel’s remarks about the aftermath of Charlie Kirk’s killing, Rogan opposed government involvement in deciding what a comedian could say in a monologue. The Associated Press reported Rogan saying: “I definitely don’t think that the government should be involved – ever – in dictating what a comedian can or can’t say in a monologue.” The AP covered the remarks during reporting on Kimmel’s return. The Daily Beast separately reported that Rogan called Kimmel “a good guy, a smart guy, a funny guy” while speaking with comedian Andrew Santino on The Joe Rogan Experience. That description is additional evidence of Rogan speaking favorably about Kimmel, not proof of a long-running feud or a complete political alignment. The Daily Beast reported Rogan’s comments.
