Those reactions show disagreement on his post, not how Australians as a whole felt about the endorsement.
What did Jason Momoa post?
In a report published on 6 October 2023, PerthNow said Momoa had re-shared a video originally posted by filmmaker Taika Waititi. The post urged viewers to “VOTE YES to THE VOICE on OCT 14” and added, “Also Google it ya lazy mongrels.” PerthNow reported commenters telling Momoa to stay out of Australian politics as well as commenters thanking him for sharing it. The examples establish mixed reactions on that post; they do not measure national opinion or show that his endorsement divided Australia’s fanbase as a whole. PerthNow’s report
Who made the video?
Momoa shared the clip; coverage does not identify him as its creator or funder. ABC News and The Guardian described it as a comedy skit featuring Indigenous musician and writer Adam Briggs and comedians Jenna Owen and Victoria Zerbst, directed by Australian filmmaker Nash Edgerton. ABC reported the creatives volunteered their time, and The Guardian said the video was not created or funded by the official Yes campaign. ABC News’ report and The Guardian’s report
The skit used humor to address arguments and online conversations around the referendum. The Guardian quoted Briggs describing his aim: “I want to debunk the comments section. I’m sick of having these arguments. We need to address that. We need to address the comment section.” The video also used the line “Have you Googled it?”

What was the Voice referendum about?
The referendum asked voters whether to amend Australia’s Constitution to recognize Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples of Australia and establish an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice. Under the proposed text, the Voice could make representations to Parliament and the Executive Government on matters relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The text also gave Parliament power to legislate about the Voice’s composition, functions, powers and procedures. The Yes case
In the campaign launch speech, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese characterized the proposal as advisory, saying, “The Voice is about advice.” He said Parliament and Government would continue to make decisions, laws and funding choices. Those statements describe the Yes campaign’s argument for the proposal.

The No case
Opponents raised concerns including that the change could create division and legal uncertainty. Supporters argued that a Voice could improve decisions affecting Indigenous people. These were arguments made by the respective sides, not settled predictions about the amendment’s effects. Associated Press’ summary of the debate

Australians voted on 14 October 2023 and rejected the proposal. A constitutional referendum requires a “double majority”: more votes in favor than against nationwide, and majorities in at least four of Australia’s six states. Associated Press’ account of the result and voting rule
