In May 2024, entertainment outlets reported that Jennifer Lopez had liked an Instagram post about unhealthy relationship traits. The like prompted speculation about her marriage to Ben Affleck, but it was not a statement from Lopez, and relationship coach Lenna Marsak said she did not know whether the couple would divorce. Their divorce was finalized in January 2025—a later outcome that does not establish what Lopez meant by the reported like.
What did Jennifer Lopez like on Instagram?
Entertainment Tonight reported on May 17, 2024, that Marsak had said on her Instagram Story that Lopez liked a post originally published on March 19. The post described traits Marsak’s account characterized as unhealthy in relationships. Marie Claire described its themes as integrity, emotional safety, respect for another person’s time, communication skills, and self-awareness.
ET reproduced the caption accompanying the post: “You can’t build a relationship with someone who is disconnected from themselves. We can’t expect someone to see us when we can’t even see themselves. Getting in a relationship is the easy part. Nurturing & fostering it is a different story. After all, love is not a feeling, it’s action ❤️.”
The reported like was an interaction with relationship advice, not a public statement by Lopez about Affleck or their marriage. The available reporting does not establish why she liked it.

Did the like mean Lopez and Affleck were divorcing?
No conclusion about the couple’s plans follows from the like alone. Marsak explicitly cautioned that she did not know whether they were divorcing. As ET quoted her: “I do not know if they’re getting divorced. I hope not, but yeah, please.” She also urged followers to be kind to Lopez.
In May 2024, coverage described divorce rumors and speculation, not an announced divorce. The coach’s post and comments can explain why the story drew attention, but they do not confirm Lopez’s motive or predict the couple’s later decision.

What happened to the divorce rumors?
The later legal outcome was different from what was known when the Instagram story was reported: Glamour’s timeline says Lopez and Affleck’s divorce was finalized on January 6, 2025, citing TMZ. That confirmed outcome should be kept separate from the earlier speculation; it does not show that the reported like was an intentional hint.
In a March 2025 report, El País described Affleck’s later account of the split as lacking scandal or intrigue, and said he characterized the truth as more ordinary than people might expect. That is Affleck’s perspective, not a jointly confirmed explanation of the marriage or its end.
