Jensen Ackles has addressed fan speculation about him playing Batman in DC’s The Brave and the Bold, but the reported response is not a casting announcement. The available report does not confirm that Ackles has been cast as the DCU’s Batman.
What Jensen Ackles’s response does—and does not—confirm
A 2023 report by ComicBook.com covers Ackles responding to fans’ casting ideas for The Brave and the Bold. It describes a response to fan-casting, not an official offer, selection, or announcement that he will play Batman.
That distinction matters: an actor acknowledging speculation does not establish that a studio has cast him. The cited report supplies no confirmation that Ackles is the DCU’s Batman.
Which Batman is DC planning for The Brave and the Bold?
In its January 31, 2023 project announcement, DC described The Brave and the Bold as the introduction of Batman in its DCU. James Gunn said this version would not be Robert Pattinson’s Batman or Ben Affleck’s version, separating the planned DCU continuity from those screen iterations.

DC said the story would center on Damian Wayne, Batman’s son, and draw on Grant Morrison’s Batman comic run. The announcement also said the film would include members of the extended Bat-Family. Those are details from DC’s project announcement, not confirmation of later production developments.
What later casting reports can tell us
A 2025 GamesRadar+ report discussed Gunn’s comments about actors he had in mind and reported that a public casting announcement had not happened at that time. That is historical context; it does not establish the project’s casting status as of October 8, 2026.

The sources reviewed here do not confirm Ackles in the role, and the 2025 report should not be treated as proof of the current status. Without a current official announcement, neither an Ackles casting claim nor a categorical claim that no actor has been cast is supported.
