No. “Jaws in 3D” means the 1975 Jaws presented in a 3D conversion. It is distinct from Jaws 3D, the separate 1983 franchise film. What did the 3D conversion add?
Lussier’s review describes the effect as restrained depth that extends the film’s compositions, rather than a parade of objects thrust toward the audience. He particularly highlights the layered look of the water and the Orca boat sequences, where the characters’ exposure on the vessel contributes to a sense of vulnerability. His memorable metaphor was that “the theater almost becomes an aquarium.” That is a critic’s impression, not a technical measurement.
How it compares with the 2D presentation
The review’s case for 3D is about how depth changes the experience of the water, boat, and characters within the frame. A standard 2D presentation does not offer that added stereoscopic depth, while the 3D conversion lets those layers read more immersively, in Lussier’s view. This is a qualitative review, not a controlled comparison: it provides no measured differences in brightness, image depth, frame rate, aspect ratio, or sound format.

Was seeing Jaws in 3D worth it?
