What happened to Jamie Foxx?
In the special, Foxx said he suffered a brain bleed that led to a stroke. He recalled having a bad headache on April 11 and asking a friend for aspirin, according to Netflix Tudum. Netflix Tudum quotes him saying, “April 11, I was having a bad headache, and I asked my boy for Aspirin.”

These details are Foxx’s account as reported by Netflix Tudum and CBS News, not an independently published medical record. His daughter Corinne initially described his hospitalization as a “medical complication,” CBS News reports. The family kept details private at the time; that privacy does not establish any particular explanation for what happened.
How long was Jamie Foxx in a coma?
CBS News reports that Foxx said he was in a coma for 20 days. He said he woke in a wheelchair and could not walk, then had to relearn basic functions. In the account reported by CBS, Foxx described the ordeal as having “went to hell and back.” CBS News’s report also says Foxx credited his daughter Corinne, his sister Diedra Dixon and medical staff with saving his life.

Does Jamie Foxx know what caused his stroke?
The cited accounts do not establish what caused the brain bleed or stroke. TIME quotes Foxx saying, “It is a mystery, we still don’t know exactly what happened to me.” TIME’s report preserves that distinction: Foxx disclosed a brain bleed that led to a stroke, but did not identify its underlying cause.
It would go beyond his account to attribute the event to an aneurysm, a clot, medication or another specific cause. The special is Foxx’s personal story of illness and recovery, not a clinical explanation of his case or a guide to what another person’s stroke may involve.
