Kill is worth watching if you want close-quarters action staged with unusual precision and can tolerate graphic, sustained violence. Nikhil Nagesh Bhat’s Hindi-language thriller turns an express train into a narrow arena for a fight whose choreography, cinematography and editing are its clearest strengths. Its gore is not incidental, though: viewers looking for emotional depth or a compelling reason behind every turn may find the violence overwhelming rather than involving.
What is Kill about?
Writer-director Nikhil Nagesh Bhat’s 2023 Hindi-language action thriller follows NSG commandos Amrit (Lakshya) and Viresh (Abhishek Chauhan), who board an express train to watch over Tulika (Tanya Maniktala), a woman being coerced into an arranged marriage. Their journey becomes a confrontation with dacoits led by Beni (Ashish Vidyarthi), with Fani (Raghav Juyal) emerging as a formidable opponent.

The train is more than a backdrop. Narrow corridors and cramped compartments restrict movement, shaping the fights and giving the action a tense, boxed-in quality. Nandini Ramnath’s Scroll.in review, published July 5, 2024, identifies that confined setting as central to the film’s impact.
How well does the action work?
The film’s strongest achievement is its physical staging. The tight geography makes each encounter feel immediate, and the action is vivid without losing its spatial clarity. Cinematographer Rafey Mehmood and editor Shivkumar V. Panicker help the fights move smoothly, while action choreographer Se-Yeong Oh gives them a forceful, kinetic rhythm.
#1 Best Overall
- In this relentless, action-packed thriller, a passenger train bound for New Delhi becomes a bloody battleground of brutal close-quarters combat as a pair of commandos square off against a 40-strong army of invading bandits.
Lakshya makes an effective action lead, and Raghav Juyal’s Fani stands out as a threatening adversary who does not collapse into a caricature. Ramnath’s review also notes that the gang’s apparent capabilities and some character motivations can strain the story’s plausibility. The action may hold attention even when the narrative logic does not.
How graphic is Kill?
Very. The violence is graphic and relentless, with severe bodily injuries and a particularly disturbing image of bodies hanging from train hand straps. This is a defining feature of the film, not a brief escalation in an otherwise restrained thriller. If on-screen gore is a hard limit, Kill is likely a poor fit.
Rank #2
- Quentin Tarantino's KILL BILL: THE WHOLE BLOODY AFFAIR unites Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 into a single, unrated epic—complete with a new anime sequence.
Who is likely to enjoy it?
- A good fit: viewers who value tightly choreographed, close-quarters action and are comfortable with sustained graphic violence.
- A less likely fit: viewers who need emotional connection, substantial character development or a strong narrative rationale to balance action.
Ramnath’s comparisons to Train to Busan, John Wick and The Raid are critical analogies, not a guarantee that those films share Kill’s tone or level of gore. The useful question is whether you want kinetic action in a confined setting and are prepared for the film’s brutality.

Kill delivers a tightly controlled action spectacle whose train setting, craft and standout performances give the violence shape. But the same ferocity that may satisfy fans of visceral action can shut out viewers seeking a more emotionally involving story. It is a strong recommendation only for the right audience—and a film to approach with a clear warning about its graphic content.
