Kris Kristofferson’s last reported full concert was on January 30, 2020, in the Stardust Theater aboard the Norwegian Pearl, during the fifth annual Outlaw Country Cruise. He performed with members of Merle Haggard’s band, the Strangers. His retirement was publicly disclosed in January 2021, but the cruise performance was not his last time on stage: he later made occasional guest appearances.

When did Kristofferson retire?
His retirement became public in January 2021, in an announcement concerning representation of the Kristofferson estate. Coverage described him as having retired in 2020. The 2021 disclosure therefore came after the cruise concert rather than on the night of the performance. Rolling Stone; American Songwriter.
Was the 2020 show his last time on stage?
No. “Final full concert” is the useful distinction: Kristofferson made later occasional appearances. In 2023, he performed a duet with Rosanne Cash at Willie Nelson’s 90th birthday celebration at the Hollywood Bowl. The Associated Press also covered the later appearance. Nelson had praised Kristofferson’s songwriting years earlier. At a 2009 BMI award ceremony for Kristofferson, Nelson said, “There’s no better songwriter alive than Kris Kristofferson.” That was a tribute to his songwriting, not a comment about his retirement or final concert. Associated Press.

The sources reviewed do not establish that an official or commercial video of the January 2020 cruise performance is available. A separate release, Long Story Short: Willie Nelson 90 Live at the Hollywood Bowl, documents the 2023 birthday event, not the cruise concert. American Songwriter; Blackbird Presents.
