Killing Eve is a completed four-season spy thriller about Eve Polastri, a security-services operative, and Villanelle, the assassin she is tasked with pursuing. Their hunt becomes a mutual obsession, giving the series its blend of suspense and dark humor. The series ran from 2018 to 2022 and has 32 episodes.
What is Killing Eve about?
Eve Polastri is a security-services operative drawn into the pursuit of Villanelle, a highly skilled assassin. As the chase continues, each woman becomes increasingly absorbed by the other. The central tension is not simply whether Eve can catch Villanelle, but how their fascination changes the pursuit. BBC AMERICA’s original announcement described them as “two fiercely intelligent women, equally obsessed with each other” (BBC AMERICA’s series announcement).

The result is a spy thriller that pairs danger with dark comedy rather than playing as a conventional procedural. Sandra Oh plays Eve and Jodie Comer plays Villanelle; the principal cast also includes Fiona Shaw as Carolyn Martens and Kim Bodnia as Konstantin.
How many seasons and episodes are there?
Killing Eve has four seasons and 32 episodes. It premiered in 2018 and concluded in 2022. AMC designated season four as the final season, so the central story is complete rather than awaiting another season (AMC’s final-season announcement).

Who created the series?
BBC AMERICA commissioned the eight-episode drama in 2016, with Phoebe Waller-Bridge serving as showrunner and executive producer and Sid Gentle Films as producer. Waller-Bridge led the first season. The original commission framed the show as a fresh take on the cat-and-mouse thriller, with Eve and Villanelle’s fixation at its center.
Is Killing Eve based on a book?
Yes. The series is based on Luke Jennings’s Villanelle novellas. Four e-novellas were published between 2014 and 2016 and later collected in the United States as Codename Villanelle in 2018. Jennings also wrote the sequels Killing Eve: No Tomorrow and Killing Eve: Die for Me.
The books are companion source fiction, not a scene-by-scene guide to all four television seasons. Netflix Tudum notes that the later seasons of the show take a different direction from the novels. Readers who want the story’s literary starting point can begin with Codename Villanelle, then continue with the sequels, while expecting meaningful differences from the screen version.
Where can you watch Killing Eve?
Availability depends on country and can change. Netflix Tudum reported on April 15, 2024 that all four seasons were streaming on Netflix in the United States; that dated report is not a guarantee of present-day availability or access in other territories. AMC Networks lists AMC+ access routes that include direct subscription, a TV provider, and a channel subscription. Check the current catalog and terms for your country before subscribing.

What is the series finale?
AMC identifies the final episode as “Hello, Losers,” which aired April 10, 2022. Its announcement sets up Eve and Villanelle pursuing a mission against The Twelve. That is the official setup, not a full account of the ending; viewers who have not finished the series should avoid detailed finale discussion to preserve the story’s surprises.
