The Indian Express reported that Kalki 2898 AD had garnered $66 million globally during its opening period. That is a time-bounded opening figure, not the film’s final worldwide collection. The report does not establish that $66 million is a lifetime total.

Which opening records were reported?
Opening day: ₹191.5 crore worldwide
Contemporary reporting put the film’s global opening-day collection at ₹191.5 crore. NDTV attributed that amount to producer Vyjayanthi Movies and described it as the third-highest opener in Indian cinema at the time. That is an opening-day comparison, not a lifetime global ranking. Opening weekend: ₹555 crore worldwide
The Indian Express reported a worldwide opening-weekend collection of ₹555 crore. This is a weekend total, distinct from the ₹191.5 crore opening-day figure and from either tracker’s cumulative lifetime dollar estimate.
First half of 2024: the year-to-date lead
Ormax Media identified Kalki 2898 AD as the highest-grossing film in the first half of 2024 in its India box-office report, assigning the film’s box office to June. That claim is specifically about the half-year period and the report’s India box-office scope, not an all-time worldwide record. Ormax Media’s January–June 2024 report sets out that comparison.

How to read the box-office claims accurately
“Collection” and “record” claims are meaningful only when their scope is clear. For this film, the reported figures refer to different measures and comparison sets:
- $66 million: an opening-period global figure reported by The Indian Express, not a final lifetime gross.
- ₹191.5 crore: reported global opening-day collection, ranked third among Indian-film openers at the time by contemporary reporting.
- ₹555 crore: reported worldwide opening-weekend collection.
