June 27, 1993: They marry in Marion, Indiana
Roberts and Lovett wed at St. James Lutheran Church in Marion, Indiana. The Associated Press described it as a hastily arranged ceremony planned in two days, with 75 guests. It was the first marriage for both. Roberts married during a three-day break from filming The Pelican Brief.
The date is sometimes given as June 25 in later biographical summaries. Two contemporary reports place the wedding on June 27, and the AP account identifies it as a Sunday, so June 27 is the date supported by the contemporaneous coverage.

Roberts and Lovett announced that they had agreed to legally separate. Their joint statement, reported by UPI, said: “We remain close and in great support of one another.” The announcement established their separation, not a finalized divorce date.
