Jennifer Lawrence’s highest-paid movie roles, ranked

- Don’t Look Up (2021): $25 million. Vanity Fair reported that Lawrence was paid $25 million. The same article reported $30 million for co-star Leonardo DiCaprio; it does not publish their contracts.
- Passengers (2016): $20 million. The Washington Post reported Lawrence’s salary as $20 million and Chris Pratt’s as $12 million. Vanity Fair also reported that Lawrence negotiated a $20 million salary. Neither report establishes whether the amount includes later participation or other deal terms.
- The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013): $10 million. The Guardian reported in 2015 that Lawrence negotiated this fee after the success of the first film. Read The Guardian’s account.
- The Hunger Games (2012): $500,000. The Guardian reported in 2015 that Lawrence made this amount for her role in the first film. The same retrospective account covers both Hunger Games figures.
What is Jennifer Lawrence’s highest-paid movie?
Among the figures reported above, Don’t Look Up is the highest, at $25 million. That is the highest reported salary in these sources, not proof of Lawrence’s highest total compensation across every film: public reporting does not provide a complete film-by-film ledger, and deal definitions vary.
How much did Jennifer Lawrence make for The Hunger Games?
The Guardian reported $500,000 for the first The Hunger Games and $10 million for its sequel, Catching Fire. The figures show a substantial reported increase between the two films, but the retrospective account is not a publication of contract documents.

What the comparisons do—and don’t—show
Passengers
The Washington Post’s reported $20 million for Lawrence and $12 million for Pratt offers a film-specific comparison between the two leads. It should not be generalized into a claim about pay equity across Hollywood.
Don’t Look Up
Vanity Fair reported $25 million for Lawrence and $30 million for DiCaprio. The Guardian later reported that Lawrence defended DiCaprio’s higher pay. Those figures describe this film’s reported salaries; they do not establish that billing order or the amounts alone explain the actors’ negotiating circumstances. The Guardian covered Lawrence’s response.
Rank #2
American Hustle
The Washington Post reported that Lawrence and Amy Adams were paid less than their male co-stars, in coverage connected to hacked Sony emails. TIME also described Lawrence’s response after she learned from leaked Sony materials that she had been paid less. These reports make the film relevant to discussion of pay disparities, but they do not establish Lawrence’s exact salary for American Hustle. The Washington Post’s report and TIME’s account do not support adding a dollar amount to this ranking.
