What did Tomlinson say about the album?
BMG says the album was written and recorded between the English countryside and Costa Rica with co-producer Nico Rebscher. In the label’s October 1 announcement, Tomlinson described the lead single this way: “The most important thing was for the first single to sound ambitious sonically. It had to be big and fun. To me, “Lemonade” really has instant and natural personality. It ended up being the perfect way to begin this chapter.”

That’s the feeling that I was thinking about.” Apple Music characterizes the album as opening with bright, summery pop-rock before moving toward darker subject matter; that is the platform’s editorial framing.
