The emails described proposals and requests—not a confirmed commission, production or broadcast.
What was proposed?
In its 19 February 2024 account of email exchanges between Fordham and Paramount executive Bev McGarvey, PerthNow reported that McGarvey suggested Wilkinson could conduct three “premium event interviews” each year. The interviews might form a standalone event series or be scheduled around special events. The report does not establish that either format was approved or made. Read PerthNow’s report.
What did Wilkinson’s agent reportedly request?
High-profile interviewees
PerthNow quoted Fordham as saying: “Regarding the proposed talent for the interview series, the calibre of interviewees would need to be the likes of Michelle Obama, world leaders and A+ list celebrities.” This describes the level of guests he reportedly sought; it is not evidence that any of those people agreed to be interviewed.
Coverage on The Project
The report says Fordham wanted Wilkinson’s celebrity interviews, stories and international-event coverage to appear on The Project. It quotes his stated aim as being “to soften the very real blow this change will have on Lisa’s standing and reputation in the industry.” PerthNow also reports that he sought guaranteed opportunities for Wilkinson to present major global events, pointing to the following year’s coronation of King Charles as an example. These are requests attributed to Fordham in the reported emails, not confirmed contractual terms.

Why were the emails newsworthy?
PerthNow placed the exchanges against two developments: Wilkinson had left The Project in November 2022, and she was involved in a dispute over legal costs in Bruce Lehrmann’s defamation case. The article says McGarvey had described the program’s move toward a younger audience and a refreshed talent line-up.
Federal Court materials document the related legal-cost dispute, but they should not be confused with proof of the television negotiations. The court file lists affidavits from Wilkinson filed in February 2024. In an affidavit dated 16 January, Wilkinson gave her account of the separate-representation and indemnification dispute. An affidavit is a person’s evidence; it is not, by itself, a judicial finding about the reported TV proposal. See the Federal Court case file and Wilkinson’s 16 January affidavit.
