Photos reported in October 2025 appeared to show Katy Perry and former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau kissing aboard a yacht off Santa Barbara, California. CityNews said the images were reportedly taken by a tourist on a passing boat in late September and were first published by the Daily Mail; the exact date and independent authentication of the photos are not established in the reviewed coverage.
What the yacht photos reportedly showed
CityNews described the yacht as 24 metres long and placed the outing off Santa Barbara. Both the vessel length and the account of how the pictures were taken are attributed to CityNews, rather than independently verified details. Its October 12, 2025, report said the images appeared to show Perry and Trudeau kissing.
The available timing is only “late September.” CityNews did not identify a specific day, and its account did not independently authenticate the images. The Daily Mail was identified as the first publisher of the photos.
How the public timeline developed
Late July 2025: dinner in Montreal
Before the yacht photos were reported, Perry and Trudeau dined at Le Violon in Montreal. The Associated Press reported that restaurant communications consultant Samantha Jin confirmed they spent about two hours there. Jin said there were “No visual signs of PDA or anything.”

That was the status reported in October, not a description of later coverage.
