What happened to Johnny Van Zant’s daughter?
In September 2024, Van Zant told fans that Taylor had experienced numbness on her right side and gone to an emergency room. He said a CT scan found a mass on her brain and that part of it was bleeding. He linked the bleeding to the numbness, according to contemporaneous accounts by ABC Audio and Fox News.
What did Van Zant say about her diagnosis?
Van Zant said doctors did not think the mass was cancer, while tests were still underway and the family had no definitive outcome. That was his account of what doctors believed at the time; the reports do not establish a final diagnosis or include a statement from Taylor’s treating clinicians.
The Independent’s September 30, 2024, report used the term cavernous malformation, but that specific diagnosis is not independently confirmed by the other cited reports. It should therefore be understood as attributed reporting, not a verified clinical finding: The Independent’s account.

Was she released from the hospital?
In an update reported by Fox News on September 29, 2024, Van Zant said Taylor was home resting. Fox News quoted him: “Due to your prayer and the will of God, she is at our house now and resting.” He also said, “I’m in a lot better position than we thought we were in the beginning, so keep saying the prayers for Taylor. I can’t thank you enough. It means everything to me and my family.” These were family updates, not clinical statements, and describe her situation in 2024 only.
Why did Lynyrd Skynyrd cancel shows?
Contemporary reports said the band cancelled its Anchorage performance and additional September 2024 dates while Van Zant left the tour to be with Taylor. The cancellations were reported amid the family emergency by Fox News, ABC Audio and The Independent.

What is known about her health now?
The cited reports cover events in September 2024. They do not confirm Taylor’s present condition, any later treatment, or the eventual medical diagnosis. No more recent outcome should be inferred from Van Zant’s report that she was home resting at that time.
