The headline’s reference to being “married” concerns their on-show pairings, not a claim that Dix and McCullough were legally married to each other. Their television matches were Dix with Ben Walters and McCullough with Lauren Dunn.
Were Ellie and Jono together while they were still on MAFS?
The sighting and the relationship timeline are different claims. A beach sighting establishes what the report said they were seen doing on that occasion; it does not, by itself, establish when they began dating or whether they were in a relationship during filming.

PerthNow also alleged that the pair had exchanged secret text messages, attributing that detail to an unnamed insider. That allegation should not be treated as an independently established fact. In a later Nine/9Now account, McCullough said he contacted Dix to warn her about the show’s texting scandal; their conversation led to a date. Nine reported that their original pairings had not worked out and that the two arrived hand-in-hand at the Season 11 reunion, where their relationship became public. Read Nine’s follow-up.
How did they say their relationship developed?
Nine’s follow-up presented the couple’s retrospective account: after their original show pairings ended, McCullough reached out to Dix, and the conversation developed into a date. Dix later described that first date in an Instagram Q&A reproduced by Nine: “I decided I liked Jono after we met for coffee and it turned into drinks and more drinkssss and then I thought, ‘Hey, this guy is pretty amazing’.” This is Dix’s recollection, as reported by Nine, rather than an independently verified chronology. What is known about their later status?
The Australian Women’s Weekly reported on 12 February 2026 that Dix and McCullough were still together in 2025. That retrospective update supports their status through 2025, but the cited coverage does not verify whether they were still together on 8 October 2026. Read the Women’s Weekly roundup.
