The victory was the payoff to WWE’s “Liv Morgan Revenge Tour” storyline, but it is a past milestone: WWE reported that Stephanie Vaquer later took the title from Morgan at a live event in Chile in September 2026.
When did Liv Morgan win the Women’s World Championship?
Morgan defeated Lynch on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at King and Queen of the Ring. WWE’s event recap records the result and the sequence that ended the match.
How did Morgan beat Becky Lynch?
Morgan started aggressively, but Lynch fought back. Dominik Mysterio then tried to interfere. His appearance distracted Lynch, and after he brought a chair into the ring, Morgan turned it against her opponent, driving Lynch onto it with a DDT before landing Oblivion for the pinfall.
WWE’s recap described the finish this way: “Morgan swiftly followed up by hitting Oblivion to become the Women’s World Champion, much to the dismay of ‘Dirty’ Dom and surely Rhea Ripley as well.” The recap also identifies the match as Morgan’s first victory over Lynch.

What did the win mean in the Revenge Tour storyline?
WWE presented the championship victory as the culmination of Morgan’s return and revenge arc. In its biography of Morgan, WWE connects her return in 2024 to an injury inflicted by Rhea Ripley and describes her subsequent “Liv Morgan Revenge Tour.” The company’s account says Morgan injured Ripley, leading Ripley to vacate the Women’s World Title, and later took Ripley’s place in The Judgment Day before winning the championship.
That is WWE’s storyline framing, not evidence of real-world motivations. A May 27, 2024 preview likewise tied the vacant title to Ripley’s injury and positioned Morgan’s victory over Lynch as a turning point in their rivalry.
