Owen Wilson and Varunie Vongsvirates have a daughter, identified in 2018 reporting as Lyla Aranya Wilson. The clearest public account of their contact came from Vongsvirates in 2021: she said Wilson had never met Lyla. The available reporting does not establish why, or whether their relationship has changed since the latest account reviewed here, published in April 2024.
Who is Owen Wilson’s daughter?
Us Weekly reported in October 2018 that Wilson and Vongsvirates had welcomed a daughter named Lyla Aranya Wilson. The outlet reproduced Vongsvirates’s Instagram announcement, which gave Lyla’s birth date as October 9, 2018. Us Weekly also reported that Wilson had taken a paternity test before the birth. These details come from entertainment-news reporting and an attributed social-media announcement, not from independently reviewed court or vital records. Us Weekly’s 2018 report.
What has been reported about Wilson’s contact with Lyla?
Early reports in 2018
In November 2018, reports circulated claims from unnamed sources that Wilson was not seeking visitation or custody. Those claims should remain attributed to the sources who made them; the reporting reviewed here does not include the underlying court file. Wilson’s representative told Us Weekly, as quoted by the New Zealand Herald, “This is a private matter and it’s not appropriate to comment further.” The statement offered no detailed explanation and does not verify every claim in the surrounding coverage. Vongsvirates’s 2021 account
In an October 2021 report, Us Weekly quoted Vongsvirates telling the Daily Mail, “He has never met her, unfortunately.” That is her account at that time, not a newly verified statement about the family’s current circumstances. Us Weekly also recounted an earlier statement from Vongsvirates that Wilson helped financially; that report does not establish the terms of any arrangement or document a specific court order.
