There is no reliable public evidence showing how much Natalie Imbruglia earns from “Torn” today—or establishing her current net worth. The song was a major UK hit, and Imbruglia has said it enabled her to be generous to her family. But chart success and a personal account of its impact do not reveal her royalties or present-day finances. Nor is “one-hit wonder” a complete description of her career.
What is known about “Torn”’s success?
“Torn” entered the UK chart at number two, spent 11 weeks in the Top 10 and sold more than one million copies in the UK, according to Official Charts. Those figures describe the song’s UK chart performance and sales history; they do not show how much Imbruglia personally received.

In an Official Charts interview, Imbruglia said: “The song has only bought joy and happiness to my life, and allowed me to be very generous to my family.” That is her description of the song’s personal impact, not a disclosure of a royalty amount or a statement about her current income.
Does the evidence show she is still making a fortune from it?
No reviewed public source establishes her current earnings from “Torn,” the amount she receives per sale or stream, or her present net worth. ScopePress notes that no official net-worth figure is available and characterizes online estimates as unverified; that is a reason not to repeat those estimates as fact, rather than proof of every detail of her private finances.
#1 Best Overall
Song income depends on rights, agreements and revenue splits. “Torn” was written by Scott Cutler, Anne Preven and Phil Thornalley. An interview with Thornalley in Songwriting Magazine discusses the song’s authorship, recording history and publishing context, but the reviewed material does not disclose Imbruglia’s contract terms or personal royalty share. A song’s sales or streams alone cannot establish what its recording artist earns; applying a generic royalty rate to the sales figure would not produce a defensible estimate.
Was “Torn” really her only hit?
“One-hit wonder” is a shorthand, not a full account of Imbruglia’s chart history. The Independent reported that “Big Mistake” reached number two in the UK and that her album Counting Down the Days debuted at number one there. Those later successes do not answer what she earns from “Torn,” but they make the literal one-hit label misleading.

Is Natalie Imbruglia still making music?
Her official website promotes Algorithm and the single “Upside Down,” alongside a September 4 album release date. Release details can change, so check her official website for the current status. The activity indicates a career continuing beyond “Torn”; it is not evidence of her income.
A 2026 Independent report recounts Imbruglia’s account of struggling financially after moving to the UK early in her career. That recollection concerns an earlier period and cannot establish her finances today.
