What is Cars: Lightning Racers?
Disney announced Cars: Lightning Racers as a series produced by Disney Television Animation in association with Pixar. Its schedule is a 2027 debut on Disney Jr., followed by Disney+. Disney’s announcement names Owen Wilson as Lightning McQueen and Larry the Cable Guy as Mater among the returning television voice actors. Those casting details apply to the series only; they do not confirm a Cars 4 cast.
The announcement sits within a broader Disney Jr. slate. Disney Branded Television president Ayo Davis said, “Today’s announcements build on that leadership, expanding the worlds kids already love and introducing new multiplatform stories that will capture the hearts of the next generation.” The statement describes the slate, not a fourth Cars film.

Why do Cars 4 release-date rumors keep appearing?
Several kinds of Cars news can look like sequel news when the format and status are left out. Disney continues to describe activity around the franchise, which includes sequels, shorts, attractions and consumer products.
